Olympic Handball Tournament
Third and Fourth Class participated in a tournament after weeks of learning the sport! The hall buzzed with excitement as the children showcased their skills and teamwork. We had great fun and look forward to the opportunity to playing the sport again soon during PE lessons.
September Sporting Highlights: A Month of Athletic Triumphs!
September was an action-packed month for our school’s athletes, with a series of thrilling sports events that kept everyone at the edge of their seats. The Cross Country Primary School kicked off the month with a bang. Congratulations to the children who represented their school with grace and grit. They conquered challenging terrains, demonstrating endurance and resilience.
The Camogie and Hurling team displayed great teamwork, determination and skill and the players were nothing short of fantastic. Well done to both teams for a fantastic start to the season.
Let’s not forget the enthusiastic support from our school community. Parents and grandparents create a wonderful atmosphere at every event! Your unwavering support is much appreciated.

Sporting Achievements 2023
We have lots of amazing winners this term and we are very proud of the effort all children have put in at lunchtime out on our pitch! The children won the Garda Tournament in Gort on May 20th, the girl’s football final on May 30th and the camogie final on June 13th! We welcomed Kilchreest N.S. to our school and everybody enjoyed watching Fifth and Sixth Class play against them in a friendly match. It was a tremendous year of sport. All children should be very proud of their efforts.
Hurling and Camogie Blitz in Ballinderreen
Third and Fourth Class had great fun participating in mixed games in Ballinderreen pitch on Thursday, June 15th. We played Kilchreest N.S., Peterswell N.S., Ballinderreen N.S. and Doorus N.S. It was great to see our parents there to support us on the day also! Well done to all involved.
Sports Day 2023
On Wednesday 31st May, we had a wonderful Sports Day filled with exciting, challenging and a few silly races! First up were the hurdles, after that were the sprints and then we had the egg and spoon race! We finished with the sack race and the three-legged race! Let’s have a look at some of the fun things that happened on the pitch! Everyone really enjoyed our anticipated Sports Day. The children participated in many different activities and showed great enthusiasm and effort. Well done to everyone who took part and thank you to all the parents who helped with equipment for the day.
Cross Country Running in Renmore
Well done to the children who represented the school so well in Renmore last Tuesday. It was great to see our parents there to support our wonderful athletes on the day also! Well done to all involved.

The children in Fifth and Sixth Class were delighted to attend another very enjoyable hurling and camogie blitz in Gort Secondary School. The weather was lovely again this year and the children had a great day.
